Intel Xeon Gen3 Ice Lake Azure VMs Available Now

Welcome! Exciting news regarding new VM series in Microsoft Azure.

Dv5 and Ev5 series machines are currently in preview. Users can request access via sign up form in East US 2 Region only. Microsoft Docs does not mention this VM series yet. The pricing calculator will allow you to price the cost for each series.

With the newest v4 and v5 series VMs from Azure, the temporary (ephemeral) storage that was previously offered for each SKU has changed. In the chart below, series with ‘d’ in the SKU will feature temp storage.

Please note, if you deploy to a VM Series without a temp disk, you will be locked to other VM Sizes that also exclude temporary storage. You cannot swap between series, you must remain with whichever temp disk option you chose.

For example: Deploying a Dv5 VM, it can be resized to a DSv5 series (in terms of temp storage) but cannot be resized to a Ddv5 or Ddsv5 Series.
